In 1984, First State Bank expanded its services by purchasing Stanhope Insurance Agency and Farmers State Bank in Stanhope, Iowa. This acquisition allowed us to offer complete insurance services alongside our full range of banking products at the Stanhope location. In January 1987, Farmers State Bank, Stanhope officially merged with First State Bank, making the Stanhope branch a permanent part of our growing network. Robert Van Diest originally purchased Farmers State Bank of Stanhope from John Walker in 1984, but the merger with First State Bank finalized in 1987. In 1988, First Insurance Services opened in Webster City, now proudly serving customers as Town and Country Insurance.
